PVM
is a highly fortified 28% (free-choice) protein molasses supplement
with an exclusive formulation designed to enhance forage utilization.
PVM is blended with a combination of five different protein
sources, essential fatty acids, trace minerals, enzymes, amino
acids and much more. Due to the patented ingredient formula
and cooking process, the PVM™ formula has a built-in delivery
system (absorbs moisture) which
limits intake to levels that supplement forage rather than
replace
it.

The most convenient way to control
horn flies in beef and dairy cattle is to supplement
with PF tubs containing Altosid IGR Feed-Thru. Altosid
is an insect growth regulator (IGR) that passes through
the animal and into the manure, where horn flies lay
their eggs. It breaks the life cycle by preventing horn
fly pupae from developing into biting adult flies.
Altosid eliminates the expense, labor, and stress on
your cattle associated with sprays, pour-ons, dusts, and
ear tags. There's no need to round up or handle cattle
because the animals spread the horn fly control as they
graze. |

FEEDING AND
MANAGEMENT INSTRUCTIONS
When used as directed, PVM Plus Altosid®
IGR will provide sufficient (S) methoprene insect growth
regulator to prevent the emergence of adult horn flies
from manure of treated cattle. Existing adult horn
flies will not be affected. Start feeding before
horn flies appear and continue use until cold weather
marks the end of the horn fly season. Allow free choice
to cattle. Cattle should consume an average of 0.8
ounces of PVM PLUS ALTOSID®
IGR per 100 lbs. of animal body weight per day, which is
equivalent to 8 ounces per day for a 100 pound animal.
*
Assure cattle are not starved for nutrients prior to
feeding PVM PLUS ALTOSID IGR.
*
Offer cattle one PVM PLUS ALTOSID IGR for every 10 to 20
head of cattle.
*
Remove all other self limiting nutritional supplements
*
Locate PVM PLUS ALTOSID IGR where cattle congregate
(watering, loafing, shaded areas).
*
Replenish PVM PLUS ALTOSID IGR on a regular basis as
needed.
* If
intake of PVM PLUS ALTOSID IGR is below 0.8
ounces per 100 pounds animal body weight per day,
increase the number of feeding locations and/or
change location (s) to areas more frequented by cattle.
* If
intake of PVM PLUS ALTOSID IGR is above 0.8
ounces per 100 pounds animal body weight per day,
reduce the number of feeding locations and/or change
location (s) to area(s) more frequented by cattle.
Introduction of this product after adult horn fly
infestation is established will require treatment of
cattle with adulticides if elimination of the adult fly
population is desired. |
* Begin
feeding PF tubs with Altosid (IGR) before the horn flies appear.
* If
feeding in free-choice feeds such a supplements, put out a 30 day
supply.
* Use one
tub per 10 - 20 animals
* Place
the tubs near watering holes and loafing areas.
* Check
consumption for a few days. Increase or decrease number of
tubs, or move them if necessary, to adjust for proper consumption.
|
*
The horn fly is one of the most important and economically
damaging pest of range cattle. In the United States
they cost cattle producers approximately $876 million every
year.
* Altosid's (IGR)
unique ingredient, methoprene, even controls horn flies
resistant to the organophosphates and pyrethroids commonly
used in conventional horn fly control products.
*
Scientists estimate that an economical, effective program
keeps the fly population below 200 flies per animal.
*
Adult flies migrate from other herds. Altosid (IGR)
feed thru does not kill adult flies.
*Altosid (IGR) prevents
the flies from successfully multiplying, breaking the life
cycle. |
