WHAT IS D C T
?

DCT
is a highly fortified 28% (free-choice) protein molasses supplement
with an exclusive formulation designed to enhance forage utilization.
DCT is blended with a combination of natural protein sources,
essential fatty acids, trace minerals, enzymes, amino acids
and much more. Due to the patented ingredient formula and cooking
process, the DCT formula has a built-in delivery system
which limits intake to levels that supplement forage rather
than replace it. DCT is a convenient free-choice supplement.
The hardness controls the consumption. |

THE DRY PERIOD |
|
Too
often dry pregnant cows are neglected because they are not contributing
to current cash flow and profit for the dairy business. Proper
management of dry pregnant cows should be thought of as an investment
in the next lactation. It all starts the day she is dried off.
The feeding program during this period should be based on 75%
forages and 25% concentrates. We call this conditioning
the rumen. High forage rations, like silage and hay, better fill
the cows digestive system resulting in stronger muscles in the
stomach, consequently reducing digestive and metabolic problems
soon at or after calving. Research shows that full lactation
milk yields and reproductive efficiency can increase if dry
pregnant cows are fed and managed properly.
The DCT Supplement System will help ease the transition of freshening
rations that may cause milk fever, ketosis and acidosis. Continue
feeding the DCT tubs three to four weeks post-calving to reduce
the incidents of these problems. |

Delivers nutrients many times per day which increases
efficiency. |

Research by Texas A&M University revealed that P.F.
Supplements increased forage and fiber utilization.
Other field trials revealed a .3% increase in butter fat
in the lactating herd on a low intake level of .3 lb.
per head per day. |

FEEDING INSTRUCTIONS Provide
one DCT tub for each 6 to 8 head of dry cows.
Place the DCT
tubs close to shade and water troughs for easy consumption.
Consumption will vary depending on forage quality and feeding
program. Dry cows should consume 1 - 1 1/2 pounds per animal
daily. Adequate forage must be available at all times. Winter
